Story Starters
Challenge: choose one of the story starters and complete it in your own words, or make your own story up!
Instructions: Choose a story starter. Watch the video that has been provided, as well as reading the story starter that is already written. Write the name of the character you are writing about below. Also, copy and paste the story starter in the table below. Once you have done that, finish the story off. Make it creative, use descriptive language, paragraphs, and correct sentence structures.

→After a while Maui popped out of the bottom of the waka. All of his brothers were in shock. “Maui, what are you doing here?” asked Māui-taha, Māui-roto, Māui-pae, and Māui-waho. “ I have come to fish with you with my Mighty hook. “Alright then since you're here pick the place we are going”. “ We are going up North to fish” all the brothers sighed at the sight of Maui on their waka. They traveled through waves and much more big things just to get there. “At last we have made it '' said Maui Moto who sighed relievingly. “Ok time to fish” said Maui Waho. “No” said Maui “Only I will fish”. Maui pulls out his jawbone Hook and throws it into the sea with a rope on it. A few minutes went past there was a nudge then another and then it pulled the waka. Maui and his brothers pulled back from the end of the line that was on the boat. “Wow Maui I think you caught a big one” said Maui Taha but he was wrong it was bigger than big it was colossal like an island. “ Is that AN ISLAND!’ Said Maui and the brothers. They pulled and pulled then WOOSH a big island or fish emerges from down below. “Maui we caught an island fish we should call it the North Island of Aotearoa. “We must tell Papatuanuku,” said Maui. off they went into oblivion for they had never made it. A massive storm was brewing. Splish, splash, roll went the boat turning upside down. The brothers climbed out of the waka and on top of it. All the brothers then got cold but then they turned to stone. The brothers were gone but were they. There is a specific mountain in New Zealand called Mount Cook. The peck of the mount represented the oldest brother. The end
