 Writing Task: Recipe for ‘Ika Mata’ (Raw Fish)

Task: Today you will need to watch the video and write down the ingredients and instructions to make ‘Raw Fish’ which is also known as ‘Ika Mata’. This list of ingredients is at the start of the video. Write down the instructions to follow step by step when making the raw fish. 

Ingredients:  This is shared 30 seconds into the video.

1.Lemon Mullet or snapper  2. Spring onion 3. Parsley 4. Capsicum 5. Coconut cream 6. Tomato

Instructions:  You might need to add extra steps to follow.

Step 1: Cut the fish into cubes small to medium sized and put the fish inside of the bowl Step 2: Cut the lemon and squeeze it over the bowl of fish and mix around Step 3: Put the fish bowl in the fridge for at least 3 hours Step 4: While the fish is in the fridge marinating cut the rest of your vegetables up and take the seeds and pulp out of the tomato and cut the capsicum in slices and take out the seeds Step 5: Take the fish out of the fridge and drain some of the liquid but not all of it Step 6: Add veggies into the bowl of marinated fish Step 7: Add 4 pinches of salt in coconut cream and add the salted coconut cream to the bowl and keep mixing Step 8: Mix well and put in fridge until the time comes when it's ready

Start your writing here:  Sit down kids let me tell you a great story. Now back in my day before you whippersnappers with your little gadgets and thingamabob’s and your Chatsnap or Tick tock or even goggle we had no Technological boxes, only flip phones wait no that was 2 years later. I remember as if it was yesterday. I had a crazy personality back then and I mean CRAZY! I was in a school called “Pt England school” where you go. We used to learn about English, Writing, Reading and Math. Now you're probably asking “What about Maori didn’t you learn about that” the answer is NO sadly. I don’t know why though. We barely learned about Maori or any pacific culture. I Usually had a Sandwich, Yoghurt and fruit. We used a pencil and paper to write. We read normal books and after school I drew things and watched old fashion tv. My advice to you younglings is to always do your best and my inspirational words are “What you believe you can achieve” yup thats my advice to you Pt England Students.

Writing Task - Michelangelo story starter

Today you will be using a snippet of a famous painting created by Michelangelo to inspire your writing. Think carefully about what you can see. Does it remind you of anything? How could you create a story based on this picture alone? Use the writing plan to help you.

		Planning:
1	characters	Who could the 2 characters be? Are they friends? Enemies? Strangers or best friends? Young or old?
2	Location	Where does the story take place? E.g. at home, on the stage, at school, in another country?

Start your writing here:  If memory serves me right, that snippet of a picture shows the first human Adam on a cliff and the other person is GOD on a cloud with angels. I wouldn’t say there are friends or enemies there more like father and son yet Adams not actually god's son metaphorically speaking. Adam is young and God is Obviously old. All I can tell is that it is in the sky. Adam has just sat down on a cliff and god has seen him. God then rides a cloud down to him with his angels. Adam and God had no problems. The one problem was a rule: don’t eat a fruit from the unholy tree. Chaos happens in the end with Adam eating a apple and so did Eve. THE END

Today you will be writing a newspaper article about an art heist (robbery) that has occurred. A famous painting created by Raphael (‘The School of Athens’) has been stolen from a famous museum. Write a news article to describe and report what has happened.

Start your writing here:  Breaking news a Famous picture called The school of Athens has been stolen. This picture was made by artist Raphael. The painting he drew was of teachers and students but mostly teachers. In a museum called Raphaels room. Actually, I don’t know if it is a Museum. In the years 1509 and 1511 there was a famous painting called the School of Athens. The cost is probably high but the actual price is unknown. It was stolen on Tuesday the 30th of November. Time: 8:30am the usual school starting time. The police checked the security cameras and to their shock two men were carrying the painting towards the door. They looked like they were 13 and ready to create chaos. It Maybe still with the thieves we didn’t get a close shot of their face. They just took it off the wall and left taking it with h\them. The people at the museum said that it was taken when they were going to see it. They suggested it may have been the notorious wet bandits or so they call themselves hehehe notorious. These Fools have been caught before help us capture them again.

Start your writing here:  It was a sunny day in New Zealand and you could see Pohutukawa trees from miles away, even people swarming across the beaches. But sadly I was not there to see it because I was in Museo di Santa Croce, Florence, Italy for I needed to find out why someone would have a heist for such a big statue made of Bronze. But I’m just wondering how they moved such a humongous statue. It may be valuable but who would buy it only from a crazed person unless they could have an Evil Scientist who has manipulated big and small things maybe even creating a shrink ray to disguise it as a trinket but there is no statue figurine made of Bronze in the world. This investigation may close soon but then I saw them with black masks of animals and a scientist in a white coat. One holding a ray and one holding a figurine. It was shining and it looked golden. They all looked suspicious and began running. All of them were deliberate so the great chase began, QUE THE MUSIC, and so the great chase begins we climb up the building they were on and begin jumping I stayed behind and got my aim ready and “BANG” shot right in the face with a rock using a slingshot and as Deadshot says “I never miss my shot” I then fire at the other four and don’t miss. Bless their poor souls they were somehow knocked out. So we took the statue, got the ray and unshrunk it. THE END.

Fan Fiction Writing.

What is FanFiction writing, I hear you ask?!

 FanFiction is a style of story-telling where we take characters and settings from our favourite movies or books, and use them to create our own original stories!

On Monday we explored comic books, so you could choose a comic book character, but it could be any book or movie character that you liked!

Before you start writing tell me…

Who are your characters?	Gandalf, Frodo, Samwise Ganmgee, Elrond, Sauron, Saurman and the army of the white hand also the Nazguls.
When and where does your story take place?	Middle Earth
What challenge will they take on?	Sauron has managed to get a hold of the ring and more.

Oh! I nearly forgot. You will need to include these 3 things into your story!

Begin your writing here: Well Instead of a car it has to be a horse because well its Lord of the rings. Frodo had all his energy taken away after travelling so far just to be swiped by the Nazgul. But Gandalf on the other hand was at Isengard where Saurman was still alive. Once he arrived Elrond was there. “Mithrandir” said Elrond “It seems you made it here before I did” said Gandalf. Gandalf looked at Elrond with a Suspicious eye. “Where's Saurman” asked Gandalf, Elrond said “Inside the tower to be more specific Locked in the tower for he has betrayed us” “What do you mean he has Betrayed us” Asked Gandalf, Elrond stayed quiet. “WATCH OUT!” Says Elrond when the Nazgul drop Frodo on the floor. “You have been Warned Grey Wizard and the lord of Rivendell” then the Nazgul Rode off into the direction of Minas Morgul. Frodo was dying and they had to do something. “Let me out and I can help your friend,” said Saurman standing next to the door in the tower. “How can we trust you won’t kill him?” asked Elrond with a gleam in his eye. “I am stronger than the both of you also look up” Elrond and Gandalf had fear on their face for they saw a Saurman above with a grin on his face and his staff in an attack position he then Fired magical spells towards Frodo one even being a fire spell. But Gandalf used all his most powerful protective spells against the blast. “Elrond take Frodo to Rivendell Pick up Aragorn as well” says Gandalf, Frodo Mutters “ Sam, Pippin and Merry went back after the nazgul took me they tried to help but failed accidentally I need to see if they are alright” then Gandalf tells Elrond were Hobbiton is. Elrond rides to Hobbiton and goes to Bag End where Frodo Lived. Elrond goes there first but leaves Frodo on the horse. He knocks on the door but nobody was home remembering that Bilbo was at Rivendell. Sam then sees Bilbo on the horse and all of Hobbiton becomes a tsunami towards Bag End. All yelling in fear of Frodo's name. “Sam, Merry, Pippin '' all three people that he called out to walked towards him with tears in their eyes. Elrond looks upon the three hobbits and introduces himself. “I am Elrond the Lord of Rivendell and your Allie” the Hobbits then say hi and ask why Frodo was with him. He said he was damaged by the Nazgul and he had no more energy. One Hobbit said “We were going to give you a carriage to attach to your horse so you could put little Frodo there in it but it broke down”. “Why don’t you stay for the day while someone looks after Frodo” asks another hobbit and Elrond agrees yet he says he will still take Frodo to Rivendell with all three Hobbits he speaks of and they agree. The Hobbits serve some cupcakes and play musical instruments. In the morning they manage to fix the Carriage and Elrond with the gang and a weak willed Frodo. Meanwhile Gandalf managed to defeat Saurman and also shame’s him and Meanwhile Sauron has heard of Saurmans betrayal of trying to take the ring. The Orc army is finished and Saurman tries to command them but is overthrown for Sauron got there first. This may be the end.

Today you will be writing step by step instructions in a Guide. 

Today you will be writing step by step instructions on “How to create a stencil”

You learnt about stencils earlier in the week, have seen how the designs are made using the laser cutter with Mr Vogt, and will have the chance today to make a stencil by hand.

Instructional writing always involves writing in Second Person Tense. This is because we are not talking about ourselves (first person) or about other people (third person), but you’re talking TO someone, so you use the pronoun (what you call someone) “YOU or YOUR”.

Each step of your instructions must also start with a VERB (an action word)

Example:

1. Squeeze the toothpaste onto your toothbrush

2. Rinse the toothbrush under the water to soften the bristles.

Etc. 

What you need to do is to have some paper or See through plastic that's like paper stable when being bent. I might suggest the plastic on boxes, pencil and colorured pencils and an image in your mind of what you're drawing. Your second step is to fold the paper or plastic to see the lines. The lines are there for support. Then with your pencils begin drawing your art. It can be any pattern of shapes. Maybe draw a fancy flower or a tree.  Once you have done all these steps you may hang it up somewhere. Easy peasy.
