 Te Whare Tapa Wha


Te Whare Tapa Wha is a concept we talk about a lot.

They are the 4 pillars of healthy living - Your physical (taha tinana), your mental (taha hinengaro), your spiritual (taha wairua), and your family/social (taha whanau) wellbeing.



Today we will be focusing on our Taha Whanau - Our Family & Friends.


Today you will be focusing on RECOUNT WRITING



Recount Writing

Write a recount of  a time when you felt supported by your whanau or friends, or you showed support to your whanau, or friends. These moments are the ones that help us realise just how important our Taha Whanau is to us.


Make sure you include…


  • What happened

  • How you felt

  • Who was there

  • Why it was special


Remember for recount writing:


  • The 5 W’s and cousin H (who, what, when, where, why, and how)

  • Narrative structure (beginning -> middle -> end)

One day actually two about a few years ago at Pt England school there was a production, let's say a school production called the toy shop. I was a kid in the production. In that year I got lots and lots of support. It was one of the 3 hardest days to not become shy. But with the support of my family I got through it all without stressing out and fainting nah i'm just kidding. But it was still one of the most stressful days of my life. Since then i haven’t been less confident maybe kid of.
